Steal this Style: 6 Inspiring Bedroom Design Ideas

Published August 1, 2017

Your bedroom is the one room in the house that should truly be all about you: a place you can’t wait to retreat to at the end of the day to rest and recharge.

While it goes without saying that your bedroom should be comfortable, it should also be an expression of your personality and style. The good news: there are plenty of ways to achieve both goals. These bedroom design ideas from The Design Network’s designer members prove that beauty, relaxation, and comfort come in all styles. From rustic to modern, and classic to country, find the look that feels like home to you, and shop our corresponding picks, below.

Airy and Nautical

This coastal space by Barclay Butera is crisply tailored but oh-so-cozy. Striped accents, a navy and white palette, and a shiplap ceiling give the room a nautical air without overpowering the room.

Feminine and Fun

Do you think in pink? Ginger Curtis, of Urbanology Design created a bohemian bedroom with a girlish twist for a client in Flower Mound, Texas. Modern silhouettes balance out pink tones and floral patterns for a look that’s sweet, not saccharine.

Lake House Style

If you prefer to sleep under the stars, then this lake camp bedroom, in Skaneateles, New York is something to aspire to. Designer Thom Filicia paid homage to the home’s 1917 roots with traditional silhouettes, and to its spot on the lake with colors and textures inspired by nature.

Elegant and Serene

What we love most about this room by designer Sara Gilbane Sullivan is that it’s such a departure from the rest of this bright and whimsical home (click the link below to see what we mean). The lesson: bedrooms are an exception to the general design rule that mandates the decor in your home should flow from room to room.

Masculine and Modern

If you like modern style, take a cue from this cool and contemporary East Village, New York room by designer Drew McGukin, which proves that traditional and modern mix just fine. The midcentury lines of the furniture offset the building’s classic architecture for a perfectly balanced room.

Rugged and Refined

The key to a rustic bedroom that still feels soft and comfortable: plenty of plush texture. In this weekend getaway, designed by Anne-Marie Barton, that’s achieved with an oversized duvet, a pile of pillows, and a vintage rug underfoot.
